On Wednesday, August 3, 2005, His Grace, Bishop JOSEPH, made his annual visit to Camp St. Nicholas to see the Summer Camp Program in action. Sayidna was greeted by a number of campers and staff including the Very Reverend Nicholas and Kh. Malvi Neyman (Camp Managers), the Very Reverend John Reimann (Summer Camp Program Priest), Katrina Bitar (Summer Camp Program Director), Hani AbuGhazaleh and Kyra Pelachik (Summer Camp Program Assistant Directors). Sayidna ate dinner with the campers and staff, and then everyone proceeded to the Chapel for Vespers. Sayidna was received in the back of St. Paul Chapel and presided over the beautiful Vespers Service. The voices of the campers and staff were powerful and prayerful. After the Vespers Service, Katrina Bitar made a special presentation to Father Nicholas and Kh. Malvi in honor of their retirement after more than 24 years of service to Camp St. Nicholas. Sayidna's visit was especially appropriate this week since it is to be the last week that Father Nicholas and Kh. Malvi would be at Camp for the Summer Camp Program. Sayidna spoke very highly and eloquently of Father Nicholas and Kh. Malvi, and thanked them on behalf of the entire Diocese for their years of service. All in all, the visit of our beloved Bishop to the "Holy Mountain" was an explosion of love toward our children. Without a doubt, the campers and staff will remember this visit for years to come.
