On Saturday, September 16, 2006, the Executive Board of the Antiochian Women of the Diocese of Los Angeles and the West had their Fall Board Meeting at the home of President Samia Habib. In attendance were Kathy Johnstone, Vice President (on the speaker phone); Bonnie Carver, Recording Secretary; Georgette Malouf, Treasurer; Jeanne Beyer, Membership Coordinator; Elsie Safady, Corresponding Secretary; Isabel Elac, Parliamentarian; and Laurie Olson, our new Spring Retreat Coordinator. Other board members were either otherwise committed for this day or lived too far away.
The meeting began at 10 AM, and concluded about 3 hours later with lunch served. We went thru our various officer/coordinator reports, discussed the upcoming Fall Delegates Meeting, including some business to attend to prior to that meeting, discussed our dues drive coming up and our NAB project, which will again be Retired Clergy Fund. It was emphasized that each parish should send 3 delegates to the Fall Meeting in Whittier, hosted by St. Michael Orthodox Church. We are also making travel plans ASAP for the Mid-Winter Meeting of the organizations at the Antiochian Village in February. The Antiochian Women sent flowers to His Grace, Bishop JOSEPH, who is continuing his recovery following back surgery. We wish him well, and hopefully look forward to seeing him at the Delegates Meeting. We welcomed our newest board member, Laurie Olson, and we thank her for taking over as the Spring Retreat Coordinator. We are still searching for a Public Relations Coordinator. We also discussed the upcoming Fall Retreat in San Jose in November, which has about 20 spaces left.
We had some good fellowship time together, celebrated the birthdays of Jeanne Beyer and Isabel Elac (Sept. 23), and took many pictures, which can be found below. We send our greetings to all of the Women of the West, and we look forward to seeing many of them in Whittier next month. Please contact any board member if you need assistance.
